However, in Season 13, the mechanics and gameplay of Lair Bosses and Lord Zir have been partially modified. Next, I'll explain in detail how to find and defeat Lord Zir under the new gameplay in Season13, and what changes have been made to the new Lair Boss Keys mechanic.Discover Full Lord Zir Boss Guide for Diablo 4 Lords of Hatred: Direct Travel, Shadow Resist Cap & Season 13 Lair Boss Key Rework

Finding Lord Zir

Lord Zir is located in Fractured Peaks of the northeastern starting region of Sanctuary continent. Prior to Diablo 4 Season 13, players needed to start from the main city of Kyovashad and travel southeast or east to find the entrance to a dungeon called Darkened Way. The most common method was to teleport to Yelesna waypoint, where the dungeon entrance was directly south.

Since Lord Zir was the Initiate Lair Boss, many players weren't fully familiar with the game map before challenging him, and Darkened Way was relatively difficult to find. Players consistently reported that "finding Lord Zir was too troublesome."

Blizzard listened to player feedback. Therefore, in Season 13 Season13, Lord Zir's location was directly displayed on the map; you could directly click the icon to teleport, eliminating the need for a lengthy search.

After entering Darkened Way, you can descend one level into this normal dungeon to enter a scene called Ancient's Seat. This is Lord Zir's exclusive battlefield, and the stage where you will fight him.

Next, you can summon Lord Zir and prepare to fight him. However, while you can summon Lair Boss for free without consuming any items, you'll need Diablo 4 Lair Boss Keys beforehand if you want to open the loot chests dropped by Lord Zir and other Lair Bosses.

Battle Strategy

Once Lord Zir is standing before you, as a Diablo 4 player, your only task is to defeat him and obtain his loot.

Preparation Before Battle

First, you must know that in Diablo 4, Lord Zir's damage type is primarily Shadow Damage. Therefore, before challenging him, try to stack your Shadow Resistance to 70%. If your gear's resistance is insufficient, you can drink Elixir of Shadow Resistance before the challenge to temporarily increase your resistance and significantly reduce the damage you take.

Regular Skills

The first is Frontal Cone Attack: Lord Zir unleashes a large cone-shaped burst of blood in front of him. This skill has a clear wind-up animation and a red ground warning. Once you see the warning, you need to quickly dodge the attack.

The second is Blood Rain: Lord Zir will hover in the air, channeling for several seconds while generating multiple red circles on the floor throughout the room. After a short delay, each circle will explode, dealing shadow damage. Therefore, you need to constantly move, observe, and avoid these circles.

The third is Adds. During the fight, Lord Zir will periodically summon swarms of low-health bats and Elite Blood Seekers. You need to use area-of-effect skills to quickly clear the bats and focus fire on quickly eliminating Elite Blood Seekers; otherwise, they will interfere with your positioning and damage output.

Core Mechanics

This is one of the most crucial mechanics in the fight against Lord Zir in Diablo 4 Season 13: when his health drops to 66% and 33% respectively, he will immediately generate a shield equal to 33% and 66% of his maximum health.

Once the shield appears, your team must break it within 5 seconds; otherwise, he will enter a period of invulnerability.

Therefore, your team must conserve high-damage abilities, ultimates, or potion bursts as they approach these health thresholds, aiming to break the shield as quickly as possible the moment it appears.

Note that when Lord Zir's health drops below 66%, he will disappear and randomly teleport to an edge of the room, then charge towards your location in a straight line.

This charge path will appear as a red track on the ground. Once you see the red track, you need to immediately move sideways or use a movement skill to dodge it; never stay on the red line.

Final Phase

When Lord Zir's health is≤60%, his ground-based crimson ring ability is enhanced: each ring explodes, in addition to area damage, launching multiple small projectiles in random directions.

You need to dodge both the positions of the rings and the trajectories of the missiles, so try to keep moving and use movement skills to avoid being hit.

New Lair Boss Keys Mechanism

We know that to obtain Lair Boss loot, you not only need to defeat them, but also an item called Diablo 4 Lair Boss Keys.

In Seasons prior to Diablo 4 Season13, each Lair Boss had its own unique key, requiring a significant effort to acquire, and these numerous keys constantly filled your inventory.

However, in Season 13, all Initial Lair Bosses share one Initial Lair Boss Key, and all Greater Lair Bosses share one Greater Lair Boss Key. Therefore, you no longer need to specifically search for Lord Zir's unique key; a regular key will suffice.

This change greatly reduces the burden on players, allowing them to focus solely on dealing with Lair Boss without expending extra energy on other tasks. The above is the latest information on Diablo 4 Season 13. Hope it helps!
