Dune Awakening just released a gameplay trailer for its latest DLC, Filmic Archive, on PS5 a day ago, and is expected to officially launch on PC and Xbox simultaneously on September 22nd.

Filmic Archive appears to be exactly what many Dune Awakening fans have been dreaming of, featuring more cinematic visuals, more Sardaukar gear, and base facilities more reminiscent of the movies.

Judging from the community's reactions, players are indeed very satisfied with what they saw in the trailer. However, the fact that this DLC requires additional payment has sparked debate among some players about whether it's worth the extra cost.

More Cinematic Style

Dune Awakening: Filmic Archive heavily borrows visual style from Villeneuve's Dune films, bringing to the game armor, outfits, weapons, building pieces, and other customization options featured in the movies.

Personally, I think Dune Awakening: Filmic Archive DLC is perfectly reasonable for the game itself, as long as Funcom can clearly define the line between the monetization model of cosmetic items and meaningful gameplay content.

If Funcom continues to release substantial game updates while using optional cosmetic packs like Filmic Archive to attract players who genuinely want them, then players have little to complain about.

However, if the exposure of paid cosmetic packs outweighs the substantial content that truly supports the game, then community skepticism will only grow. 

Therefore, the sales performance of this DLC will ultimately likely depend primarily on how much players enjoy Dune Awakening itself.
