Is There No Path Of Exile 3.26 Update In Sight?

With Path of Exile 2 in full Early Access, the developers said they plan to run POE 1 and 2 simultaneously, and that seasonal leagues will alternate between the two. However, POE 3.26 has been delayed indefinitely.

Path Of Exile 3.26 Delayed Reason

Because of the ongoing development pressure of new ARPG, the developers have no time to take care of the update of Path of Exile 3.26, which will cause its update to be postponed indefinitely, but this does not mean that they will stop updating POE 3.26. 

The developers have promised to continue making POE 1 expansion and have always kept this promise. They said that POE currency still plays a big role in the production and enhancement of character equipment, and some extra things will be added in other aspects to add some freshness to the game. However, in fact, fulfilling this promise will be much more difficult than expected. 

Actually, following the last expansion Settlers of Kalguur, POE 3.26 update should ideally be launched in late October 2024. However, this date is too close to the release of Path of Exile 2, so a new date needs to be picked. Next is December, which is too close to Path of Exile 2; a January release after December is even less likely, and the January holiday will not allow the developers to prepare for the release of Path of Exile 3.26. So, in summary, we already know that POE 3.26 will not be completed before February.

Development Team Issues

Since the final version of Path of Exile 2 is currently still “not in a releasable state” and is already a few weeks later than expected.

Despite everyone’s efforts to make sure it goes smoothly, its release has caused a lot of problems, from crashes, bugs, to balance issues. So, we have to admit that the priority right now is still to make sure the problems with POE 2 are resolved. While the developers were working on fixing POE 2, they didn’t have much energy to think about the update for POE 3.26. And the early access release of Path of Exile 2 required a lot of attention, which made Path of Exile 1 lose its normal development team. 

But it was also because the developers underestimated the difficulty of developing two games and overestimated their own strength. Because POE 2 was still in trouble, the team could not reasonably transfer experienced developers from it to work on Path of Exile 3.26, so most of the work on it was suspended, which is why it has been postponed indefinitely.

Path Of Exile 3.26 Update Plan

The developers said that they have the time and energy to make and develop POE 3.26 before the release of POE 2 0.2.0, and it is likely that they will wait until the patch support period ends in a few weeks. However, during the development of it, some developers who do not need to participate in the development of POE 2 will first participate in the pre-production of POE 3.26.

Then after the successful release of POE 2, they will devote all developers to the update research and development of Path of Exile 3.26 and make the required development resources to try their best to make this game update available to the public as soon as possible, but this process cannot estimate its time and date.

This news is frustrating for long-term players who love long-form endgame. This is because although POE 2 has a strong endgame, it is still far from the amount of content currently provided by POE 1. But please don’t be discouraged. Although POE 3.26 expansion is not yet fully developed and is still in the pre-production stage, the development team will develop it as soon as possible and keep this promise. It also revealed that will have “a solid plan”. I hope it will be worth the wait!
