WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Major Bug: Abnormal Gold Rewards for Level 70 Quests | Players Lose over 1000 Gold!

A major bug has appeared in WoW TBC Classic Anniversary. Due to a serious anomaly in the gold rewards for level 70 quests in Shadowmoon Valley, players are losing an average of nearly 1000 gold per map.

With the release of The Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary, the game has revealed far more problems than anticipated.

Even during TBC Anniversary PTR, incorrect Armor values display had already caused player dissatisfaction, followed by an unexplained nerf to melee classes.

Now, an even more serious bug affecting player rewards has appeared: the gold rewards for completing quests on level 70 characters are not converted to gold at the correct ratio.

WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Major Bug: Abnormal Gold Rewards for Level 70 Quests | Players Lose over 1000 Gold!

Bug Details

Before discussing this bug, you should first know that once a character reaches level 70, all quest experience is converted into gold rewards. Many players rely on this mechanism to accumulate gold after reaching the level cap.

Shadowmoon Valley is a popular area, attracting many players after reaching level 70.

Like many players, I went to Shadowmoon Valley after reaching level 70. However, I clearly felt the rewards were incorrect when doing quests.

To verify the situation, I repeatedly tested it myself, verified it with friends, and reviewed numerous community discussions. I finally confirmed that the gold reward for level 70 quests in Shadowmoon Valley is severely anomaly.

According to the normal experience-to-gold conversion mechanism, a level 70 character should have earned 11-12 gold upon completing the corresponding quests, but actually only received about 7.95 to 8 gold, nearly a third less.

Even more shockingly, some players have calculated that completing all Shadowmoon Valley quests should have yielded approximately 1600 gold, but they only received around 600 gold, a loss of nearly 1000 gold per map. For many players hoping to obtain epic flying mounts purely through questing and accumulating gold, this bug makes their goal unattainable.

It's worth noting that this bug only occurs in Shadowmoon Valley and the gold reward for Netherstorm quests is completely normal.

I even compared the bug with early WoW TBC videos, where players could consistently earn over 11 gold by submitting quests, further proving a significant problem in the current version.

Some players have analyzed that the bug seems to occur with quests that can be accepted at level 68 but are categorized as level 70.

For these quests, since the character hasn't reached the level cap when completing them, they don't receive the corresponding experience reward. Therefore, once the character reaches level 70, this experience cannot be correctly converted into gold.

How to solve this bug?

If you've encountered this bug, the only solution is to report it to the developers and hope for a quick fix. However, don't expect any compensation; in most cases, they will refuse to reimburse, citing concerns about disrupting the in-game economy.

Currently, many players have posted about this on forums, but the developers have yet to officially respond. The last official announcement was on March 6th regarding a fix for PvP flagging; nearly three weeks have passed, and the lack of action on this crucial WoW TBC Classic Anniversary gold bug is causing concern among many players.

It's worth noting that if you haven't started Shadowmoon Valley quests yet, it's best to avoid the area for now and wait for the official fix. If you haven't reached the level cap, you can still complete quests and level up in the area, as you won't lose anything in that scenario.

Personal Feelings

Putting aside the bugs themselves, I personally feel that the operation and maintenance of this version of WoW TBC is really quite poor.

Although I still enjoy playing dungeons with friends every week, getting cool gear, and having a lot of fun adventuring in Outland, the official follow-up maintenance is really disappointing. It gives the impression that the game only has nominal operation without a real responsible team.

Many players, like me, are looking forward to the upcoming BlizzCon 26, with widespread speculation that the official Classic+ plans will be announced.

However, the current state of TBC Classic Anniversary is unsettling for the future: Classic Anniversary has so many bugs, bug fixes are dragging on, and the official team doesn't communicate seriously with players. If Classic+ is maintained with the same attitude, it will undoubtedly be a huge blow to players.

The current problems with WoW TBC extend far beyond quest gold. Issues include an unbalanced economy, unjustified bans of some players, and the delayed release of Phase 2. Adult players have jobs and responsibilities, making sudden updates without prior notice difficult to accept; everyone needs at least 2-3 weeks to prepare.

All these signs suggest that the game is being maintained by a mere intern, with updates and maintenance relying entirely on automated processes, lacking dedicated testing and follow-up. I'm not intentionally criticizing the development team, and I understand they are working on new projects, but the current service quality definitely needs significant improvement.

As players, we genuinely love The Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary and hope the developers will treat the game with the same care, diligently fixing bugs, providing timely updates, and ensuring players receive the rewards and experience they deserve. Only then can we confidently continue our adventures in Outland and look forward to future Classic versions.
